Farmers in Koppal district have been using private water tankers to protect pigeon pea (tur dal) crops amid a severe rainfall deficit. More than 17,000 acres of pigeon pea cultivation were reportedly under stress, with farmers in areas such as Talakal village spending additional money to bring water to their fields.
